“Community as Curriculum: Cultivating Connection, Well-Being, and Success”
Goal 1: Improve Student Achievement, Engagement, and Attendance
If we strengthen culturally responsive and relevant classroom practices, provide targeted academic support such as mentorship and study hall opportunities, and enhance communication between students, families, and staff regarding attendance and progress, then students will experience more meaningful and inclusive learning, demonstrate greater engagement, and show improved attendance and academic achievement.
Goal 2: Foster Student Well-Being, Mental Health, and Belonging
If we expand access to mental health resources, implement structures that reduce academic stress (e.g., assessment days, reassessment opportunities), and provide community-building opportunities that promote connection and inclusivity, then students will feel safe, supported, and connected—resulting in improved mental health, resilience, and readiness to learn.
Goal 3: Advance Equity, Inclusivity, and Culturally Responsive Practice
If we provide professional learning to enhance staff cultural competency, embed inclusive practices into classrooms, and celebrate diversity through school-wide initiatives, then all students will see themselves reflected in the learning environment, feel valued and respected, and experience a stronger sense of belonging and identity within the school community.
