The Health & Physical Education Department at KHS takes pride in offering a well-rounded program with an emphasis on the social, emotional and physical well-being of all of our students.

 

Fundamental Principles in Health and Physical Education:

Health and physical education programs are most effective when they are delivered in healthy schools and when students’ learning is supported by school staff, families, and communities.

Physical activity is the key vehicle for student learning. 

Physical and emotional safety is a precondition for effective learning in health and physical education

Learning in health and physical education is student-centred and skill-based.

Learning in health and physical education is balanced, integrated, and connected to real life.

We are committed to working with our students and community to facilitate an active, fun experience which enhances student intellectual as well as physical pursuits.  

Our goal is to improve student physical fitness while empowering them to design and implement a personal lifelong pursuit of a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Our program goals include developing healthy decision making abilities, enhancing leadership confidence and developing the physical skill set required for the incorporation of activity in a healthy lifestyle.
